abstract = "The use of remote sensing techniques in the last decade has become
a very important tool in technical expertises and inspection of
the social function of rural property, a theme related to agrarian
reform. Among them, we highlight the temporal analysis of
satellite images, which was presented as a useful tool, due to the
availability of new sensors and a robust image bank, the
identification of unproductive agricultural lands was made more
precisely, efficient and relatively low cost. Obtaining this
information through remote sensing techniques helps in the
elaboration of technical documents and reports, contributing to
the National Institute for Colonization and Agrarian Reform
(INCRA) sectors that deal with the expropriation of rural
properties, land regularization, land rights and agrarian
legislation. The mapping of land use through remote sensing
techniques aims to differentiate productive areas from those that
have productive potential inside of a rural property, but that in
a given period of time prior to inspection, were not used for
agriculture or livestock. This mapping will provide support and
guidance to determine whether or not rural property is fulfilling
its social function. The objective of this work was to verify
through temporal analysis of satellite images LANDSAT if a rural
property located in a region of soybean production in the west of
Santa Catarina State was cultivated within a period. Through the
results obtained, it was concluded that in the period analyzed,
land with potential for agriculture was not being cultivated,
indicating the non-compliance of the social function of the
                         property in that period.",
